Vamana : A Cleansing Journey

Overview

Vamana, also known as emesis, is a profound detoxification procedure within the realm of Panchakarma. It aims to expel toxins accumulated primarily in the upper body and balance the Kapha dosha, or the water element.

Benefits

  • Effective in treating and preventing excessive Kapha-related disorders.
  • Purges toxins accumulated due to suppressed emotions in the chest, throat, and head regions.
  • Leaves you feeling light and rejuvenated, with a sense of inner peace.

Treatment Day:

  • Begins early in the morning with a gentle massage and steam session.

  • Under physician supervision, consume herbal preparations to induce vomiting.
  • Massage and abdominal pressure aid in the vomiting process.
  • Rounds of herbal liquids are ingested until fullness and subsequent vomiting.
  • Saltwater intake balances electrolytes, followed by plain water.
  • Physicians monitor and may adjust treatment based on your condition and vomit contents.
  • Inhale medicated smoke to clear residual Kapha from the throat and chest.
  • Optional nasal cleaning (nasyam) may be performed later in the day.
